Arteta coy on Nketiah and Ramsdale futures

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta remained coy on the futures of Eddie Nketiah and Aaron Ramsdale with both players linked with exits this summer.

Nketiah has attracted interest from Marseille over the summer, while Ramsdale is set for a season on the substitutes’ bench with David Raya the undisputed Arsenal No 1.

In Arsenal’s 4-1 pre-season friendly win over Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday night, Nketiah was a 70th minute substitute while Ramsdale was unused off the bench.

Asked about Nketiah’s future after the game, Arteta replied: “We cannot talk about things like that. He played some minutes today, he’s a player that has given so much, we really like him and at the moment there is nothing to discuss.”

Pressed on Rasmdale’s future, the Arsenal boss replied: “It’s the same situation with all the players, everybody wants to play. I have to give those options, they have to earn it and there is no difference [to Nketiah].”
